Willy Reyes: July 2024 Willy Reyes began his IDRC career in 1977 as Advisor to the Regional Director in the Singapore office, ASRO. He went on to service as the ASRO Regional Controller until the office was closed in March 2013. He worked at IDRC for over 35 years. Willy obtained his accounting degree in 1968 in the Philippines and started his first job there in October 1968. He moved to Singapore in July 1974 to work as a management consultant. After he retired, Willy became CEO of Singapore’s Community of Praise Pte Ltd. Colleagues remember. Willy was my supervisor from 1976 to 2012. Although he was strict, he was hardworking, kind, caring and approachable. He was also hospitable. He and his wife Ofie often invited the staff to their home for dinner. Under his supervision, ASRO enjoyed the reputation of being an efficient Regional Office. I am sad that he has left us but hope he is happy on the other side of the world. Lucy Tan Hui Ngor I have fond memories of Willy during the many years I served under him in the ASRO Administration team. One cannot imagine the ASRO office without Willy Reyes. He was like a solid rock in ASRO: someone you could go to if you had a question or problem. He would try to solve the problem with you by asking a lot of questions and listening to you. The strong team spirit he forged motivated us to give our best at work. He was a strong Christian. May God grant him everlasting life in heaven. Vivien Chiam Willy was a generous and hospitable person with integrity. He was more than a boss to me for the 12 years I worked with him at IDRC. As a friend, he cared for me like an older brother especially during business trips I went with him. Willy was concerned for my aged parents, wife and children. At work, he taught me to go to him with suggested solutions and not just problems encountered. Willy was also active in the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship and he would share his Christian faith with many people he met. Robert Ong Willy was a genuine personage, a colleague, and a friend. He was always composed and conveyed unexpected humour with fervency. I feel incredibly privileged to have been acquainted with and worked alongside Willy. Shaun Bona Willy was a rock at the office and a gentle soul who brought peace and home to us all. Randy Spence Willy was a lovely lovely always kind person, he will be warmly remembered.
