It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our colleague Beatrice Uthasayo on Friday, March 6 at about 10 pm at a care hospital in Nairobi, after transferring there from ICU, where she had been admitted fighting off a bout of pneumonia.
Beatrice was a dedicated IDRC colleague of 24 years, working as a Regional Operations and Programs Associate at the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office. She had been returning to work gradually, which was a desire of hers, after she successfully and courageously fought off cancer.
Colleagues remember Beatrice for her dedication to family, friends, her work, and her Catholic faith; her calm personality; and her empathy, patience, and care for all she interacted with. We will all miss her greatly.
